Marian College Kuttikkanam

Marian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous) was founded in 1995 and is affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University. It is owned by and managed by the Catholic Diocese of Kanjirappally through the Peermade Development Society. Marian has a unique and enviable history that it gained autonomy in a span of 20 years. Marian started with just three undergraduate programs and at present the college offers 20 programmes, including doctoral programs in Social Work and Commerce. Marian was the youngest accredited* college in India in 2003 and at present the college is re-accredited with A grade and CGPA 3.52/4 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2014.

Campus

The college has well equipped gymnasiums for both boys and girls. Marian is fortunate to have efficient physical education trainers who train the students in various games like basketball, badminton, table tennis, football, throw ball, volleyball and cricket. The lively courts fill the day with entertainment and energy. There is special martial arts training for girls in addition to regular aerobics classes.There is a cafeteria and two snack bars on the campus from where students can get yummy food and snacks. Shops that would satisfy all the basic requirements of the students such as ATM counters, small textile shops, DTP centers, ladies stores, photo studios etc are available at Kuttikkanam junction. The campus offers 24 hour internet facility.One of the key features of Marian is its availability of computer labs and library even after the daily working hours. Students can access the college library from 8am-8pm (girls) and 8am-10pm (boys), where they can read newspapers, collect study materials and prepare notes. The college has separate computer labs for UG and PG students. PG students have round the clock lab access with internet connection and UG students have access to the lab from 8am to 8pm (girls) and 8am-10pm (boys).

Life long learning is a key feature of today's world and the Career Cell at Marian helps the students to plan the many stages of their career, updating their professional skills. It works along with the Placement Officers. Arranging classes and training sessions in soft-skill development, conducting aptitude, dexterity and such other tests, organising coaching classes for various competitive examinations, etc are some of the activities undertaken by the Career Cell. Educational decisions are often influenced by a variety of academic, personal and financial factors and the intense student-faculty rapport encouraged at Marian, allows the students to address each of these with expertise so that they make the best choice.
